God, Sin and You

Now, I’ve heard it said that sin affects our relationship with God. But read this:

By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.
(1 John 3:10 ESV)

By faith you are saved. (Generic “you”)
Then God acts through you. Those would be the only good you do.
It is God’s actions through you that signify your salvation.
God’s action inand through you bring your raltionship to a closer level.
God acts through you more efficiently.
You are drawn yet closer to God.
Who continues working through you.
and so on….

So, our relationship with God is what affects our sinning.  Get it?

Our focus needs to be upon God.  As we purposefully draw near to Him and allow ourselves to be used by Him, our sins will diminish. I’m not saying that we should not avoid sinning, I’m just saying that simply eliminating our sins won’t necessarily draw us near to God even though it may appear so to misguided “others” who judge solely on the basis of outward appearance. Our goal should be to please God  and not “them”.

So, spend some time with God today.  Maybe even all day?

God Bless,

Christopher
